“Oooh, look at that!”
“So gorgeous!”
“I want one!”
“What are you looking at girls?” Lauren asks her twin girls, Lisa and Lila who are looking through a magazine.
“Mom, come look at these pearls!”
“So pretty and neat and flawless.”
“Uh huh.” Their mom replied, “I agree, they are gorgeous.”
“Can you buy me one? I like the pearl necklace.”
“Well…we ‘ll see about that.” Lauren replied and continued, “By the way, do you know how pearls are formed?”
The twins look at each other
Lisa shook her head and said “Dunno”
“I just want to wear ‘em” Lila said and both girls giggled.
“Okay, I ‘ll tell ya” Lauren said and sat on the floor near her girls.
“Pearls are formed in clamshells.” She says to them. “When dirt, something like sand or any irritant enters the shell. The shell releases a liquid and covers the irritating particle. The substance in the liquid acts on the dirt and uh…this process continues for a while, with time, the dirt or irritant gradually changes to a pearl.”
“That’s incredible!” Lisa said wide eyed.
“I know right? Lauren said, “What had been irritating and discomforting became something very prescious.’
“Wait a minute,” Lila replied, “You mean the dirt becomes a pearl!” That’s stupendous!
“You girls sure do know a lot of big words.” Lauren said to them with a smile.
…life can throw us a pack of punches and some sour lemons too, however you choose to react to it, it can either be a pearl or a pain for you…
